POWELL RIVER — The Mid-Island Blazers made a dramatic return to Coy Cup play, finishing runners-up in the B.C. senior men’s AA hockey championship after a close 3-2 loss Saturday to the host Powell River Regals.

Mid Island Blazers 8 – Williams Lake Stampders 7 — The Stampeders scored seven goals against the Blazers in the round robin but this time th e Blazers countered with eight goals instead of three. As a result the Blazers will face their coastal cousin Powell River Regals on Saturday night to play for the Coy Cup.

Chilton County’s baseball team evened its record in the Lake Martin Classic to 1-1 with a 7-0 win Tuesday over Smiths Station. The Tigers fell to host Benjamin Russell, 10-3, on Monday in their first game in the event.
